Meet Yesenia Beckmann of Well-Traveled Wealth

July 20, 2021

SDVoyager magazine's mission is to build a platform that fosters collaboration and support for small businesses, independent artists and entrepreneurs, local institutions and those that make our city interesting.

On June 21st, SDVoyager published an article which puts the spotlight on our very own, Yesenia Beckmann.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yesenia Beckmann.

Hi Yesenia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always knew that I wanted to work closely with people. Everyone’s story is so unique and I love to hear about the experiences that have shaped someone’s life. My parents have always been extraordinary with handling their finances while raising four kids and juggling multiple jobs. With a growing family and a tight budget, they had to make sure to pay very close attention to their finances. Consequently, money management was instilled in me at a very early age.

Growing up with immigrant parents allowed me to witness firsthand the struggles that come with not having access to adequate resources to make sound financial decisions. I realized how much stress can be relieved when you feel empowered and have the tools to make your money work for you. This is what sparked my interest in helping others make better money decisions to live a happier and healthier life. Both my husband and I began our careers in the financial services industry individually at a larger firm. After almost a decade of working for this firm, the goals of that organization and what we felt was best for our clients began to diverge. This is how Well-Traveled Wealth was born. We wanted to create something that was authentic to us and that aligned with our own morals and philosophy. We wanted our firm to be founded on our love for life and adventure and our passion for working with clients.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s has been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Like with any company that is starting from the ground up, there was a learning curve with many aspects of starting Well-Traveled Wealth. With new and advanced technology at our fingertips, we had to spend hours upon hours learning and becoming experts in it. This would in turn, allow us to better serve our clients in a way that we were previously unable to. With new technology and structure, we spent a significant amount of time creating processes within our business to streamline and become as efficient as possible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are proud to have built a brand that represents our own identities as individuals, as well as who our clients are. Well-Traveled Wealth is all about people who embody a spirit of adventure. We serve city employees, teachers, and executives from all walks of life, but the one thing they all have in common is this enthusiasm for the best life has to offer. That might be traveling, spending time with children, or reaching a season of retirement to simply enjoy things they are passionate about. This theme of having amazing experiences is our common ground with clients. We prioritize saving and preparing for the future, but not to the extent of sacrificing your daily happiness and quality of life. Many planning firms are devoted to the traditional planning process, maxing out retirement accounts to the point of being miserable in daily life. We are invested in the overall wellbeing and happiness of our clients, balancing that with their priorities and goals for the future. I think this makes us unique as a financial planning firm – we remain approachable and relatable to our clients, getting them as involved as possible. We are sitting on the same side of the table, looking for people who are interested in collaborating rather than just taking advice we give.

What matters most to you?
Our clients are at the forefront of everything we do. Clients place an immense amount of trust in us and this is something we don’t take lightly. Our priority is to always act in the best interest of our clients and maintain a relationship built on respect and integrity. They are the reason we exist and we value each relationship we have developed over the years with each one of our clients.
